The computer may behave erratically every now and then. It is not always possible to call for the help of computer repair services all the time. In case the computer freezes while you are working, do the following.
1. Try closing the window of the application/program that is not responding. If the X (Close) button does not work try using the combination of Alt and F4 to close the window. If this does not work, follow the instructions given below.
2. Use the Ctrl + Alt + Del combination to access the Task Manager. In the Task Manager window, try closing the erring applications/programs.
3. Restart your computer by selecting the Restart option from the Task Manager window or by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Del combination for a little long.
4. If the steps mentioned above do not work, switch off your computer and switch it back on after waiting for ten seconds or so.
Note that restarting your computer by following the instructions given above will result in a loss of data if you have not saved your data earlier.
